The Third Finger, Left
Hand - the ancients believed that a vein of love which they called a
'vena amoris' ran from this finger to the heart. by wearing a fitted
ring, love was bound, and could never flow out of the finger tips.
In 1549, King Edward VI issued an edict stating that a wedding ring must
be worn on the third finger of the left hand.
The White Gown -
White has been the ceremonial symbol of virtue and purity since biblical
times, but it was actually the 1840 wedding of Queen Victoria that
popularized white. It then became the 'official' colour of brides.
The Bouquet -
Flowers assembled in a bouquet represent life, growth and fertility.
